Friday (26/06) until Sunday (28/06) 07:00, for the whole country:
Extreme thermal stress is expected. The perceived temperature will be extremely high throughout the day and remain elevated at night, with no significant cooling expected, for at least three consecutive days. Heat exhaustion and heatstroke are likely, even with a short stay outdoors or light physical activity.
Possible consequences
- Risk of widespread health problems, even for people in good health;
- Those particularly at risk are: the elderly, people with disabilities, those with chronic illnesses or mental health conditions, people taking regular medication, people living in isolation, and young children;
- Dehydration or heatstroke (symptoms: fever above 40°C, hot, red and dry skin, headaches, nausea, drowsiness, intense thirst, confusion, convulsions, loss of consciousness).
Reminder of recommended actions
- Drink plenty of water regularly throughout the day (at least 1.5 litres of water per day)
- Avoid going outside (prolonged, direct exposure to the sun) during the hottest hours of the day (11.00–21.00)
- Close shutters, curtains and windows during the day and air the room at night
- Cover your head when going outside
- Wear light clothing
- Limit your physical activity
- Use fans or air conditioning to cool down
- Try to stay in a cool or air-conditioned place (shopping centres, cinemas, etc.)
- Wet your body several times a day (using a spray bottle, shower, etc.)
- Stay in regular contact with vulnerable people around you and accompany them to a cool place.
