In Austria, rat poison was detected in a HiPP baby food jar labelled ‘Gemüsegläschen Karotte mit Kartoffel 190 Gramm’, marked with a white sticker with a red circle on the base of the jar. Further jars have been found in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Investigations are ongoing. This is believed to be a deliberate and malicious act.
To date, there is no evidence to suggest that products sold in Luxembourg are affected.
Advices - according to the latest findings of the investigation, suspect products can be identified by the following features:
- a white sticker with a red circle on the base of the jar,
- a lid that has already been opened or is damaged,
- a missing safety seal (no ‘click’ sound when opening for the first time),
- an unusual or spoiled smell (according to witness statements).
